Is Motor Fleet Insurance Legally Required?
Third-party motor insurance is legally required for any vehicle which is road registered (unless this vehicle has been SORNed). Comprehensive cover is not legally required, however, many vehicle financing companies would require this cover be in place prior to leasing or financing a vehicle.
Are There Age Restrictions On Fleets?
Typically, the age restriction can be set to the following broad categories: Excluding Under 21s, Excluding Under 25s and Excluding Under 30s. Some insurers offer different categories. In addition, most insurers will allow requests to add drivers who do not fi t an age restriction on the motor fleet insurance policy. This is on a case-by-case basis and would usually result in an additional premium, increased restrictions on the driver, or both.
Is It Possible To Convert A Single Vehicle No Claims Discount Policy To A Fleet Rated Policy?
Yes it is possible to do this, however, many insurers do not have the appetite for this. At Clarke Dove, we have contact with insurers who can convert a single vehicle no claims discount policy to a fleet rated policy.
